My New Project: Learning For Humanity and Education For EveryONE

Now that Janet and I have sold TourMagination, I needed a new challenge and am so excited to undertake a new project with a start-up social enterprise as a volunteer development officer.  My daughter Janelle is one of the founders of the organization and it’s exciting to be able to work together with her and the team as they work to find new ways of making education available in the developing world.

Learning For Humanity (L4H) and its sister organization Learning For Humanity Alliance are working to provide “Education For EveryONE.” To reach that goal more must be done than just hiring teachers and building classrooms.  Many schools in the world lack basic resources – especially textbooks, computers, and infrastructure such as reliable power and internet.  L4H has developed EcoSystem, a managed service that rethinks how textbooks, educational resources and teacher training are provided in an affordable and sustainable way to schools around the world.

The first school in Zambia will begin using EcoSystem this fall and much must yet be done to develop and launch the system.  I’m writing today to ask for your support for this incredible work. Please visit the Learning For Humanity website to learn more about the project. Help us spread the word by sharing the link to the Learning For Humanity website with your friends who may be interested and like to donate.

We have the opportunity to transform education through donations that will be used in school after school.  Janet and I have made our contribution.  Will you join us and make a gift today by clicking this link and using your credit card on this secure donation portal?

Mennonite church and school in Tanzania
Mennonite school pupils in Tanzania

The photo to the right is from a Mennonite Church in Tanzania where the bell from the my family’s home farm in Pennsylvania still rings today. When I preached in this church it was a Thursday afternoon.  The church was packed with adults and children.  The minister told me to go home and tell my Dad that the Bell my parents gave from our farm house is still being used in Africa to call people to Christ and the children to school!  I look forward to the day that I can visit this school and tell them they will be receiving computers and access to the best educational resources to teach their children.

Thank you,
Wilmer

Additional photos from the Amish Heritage Tour with John Ruth

Last week I received some wonderful photos taken on the Amish Heritage Tour with John Ruth by tour member Se Yim.  I asked him if he was willing to have these photos shared on my blog and he agreed. Thank you Se Yim for allowing us to share these fantastic memories.
